Wynnum Manly Community Newsletter 18 July 2014

By jwebmin on January 16, 2016 in

This Weekend

On Saturday St Peter’s Parish at 77 Charlotte Street, Wynnum are holding their annual fete from 8am to 1pm. Always a good event with lots of home made treats and items for sale. They will have a jumping castle and lots more.

New in Wynnum

It seems that 212 Bay Terrace is becoming the ‘hub’ for new organisations in the area. It is great to see new businesses coming to Wynnum. We will soon have 4 new organisations open and I will introduce them as they settle in.

EACH Community Social and Health Group is now up and running with social and recreational activities for seniors. The group activities are for people aged over 65 or over 50 if Indigenous. Activities are low cost, around $10 (depending upon the activity), and includes lunch. If you are interested they are happy to give you a tour or just attend an activity session to see what you think. For more details phone 3348 1600.

More Development Approvals

Brisbane City Council has approved yet another apartment building in Wynnum Central. This is the fourth approval. The site is the corner of Bay Tce and Charlotte Street. The site currently includes St Vincent de Paul and the kebab shop, together with other occupiers.
The approval is for 26 residential units, a shop, an office and a restaurant in a five storey building. All we need now is for someone to go ahead with the building of one of the buildings which has been approved. As my mother used to say to me when I was a child, “Patience is a virtue!”
