Councillor for Wynnum Manly, Peter Cumming is delighted to announced he has approved $260,280.00 from the Wynnum Manly Ward Footpath and parks Trust Fund to upgrade Heers Park, Wondall Road, Manly West.
“The funds will go towards an upgrade of the existing playground as well as the installation of a full-size basket ball court, said Cr Cumming.
Cr Cumming said “this park is right in the middle of an area of development with new units being built between Wondall Road and Lewis Place and on Stannard Road, as well as being close to Wondall Heights State School.”
“This is a great park which is regularly used by local families and these facilities will provide a great new venue for children and teenagers to play, said Cr Cumming.
Cr Cumming said he has not been advised of the commencement date, but anticipates works to be completed early in 2016.
“I am proud to be able to provide new playground equipment and I believe the inclusion of a basket ball court will give access to facilities to a wider age group,” said Cr Cumming.
Cr Cumming added “ I am determined to provide plenty of options to youngsters other than computer games.”
In addition, I will soon announce the locations for new fitness equipment along the Esplanade.
